Switching to Multimeter from another menu bar monitor

Nothing imports automatically: each app stores its settings its own way. Setting up the same meters by hand takes about ten minutes. Here’s what maps to what, and what you’ll keep the old app for.

How-to. Updated October 25, 2026, for Multimeter 1.0.

What maps to what

Multimeter equivalents (version 1.0)
You hadIn Multimeter
CPU totalCPU meter (total, not per core)
Memory usedMemory meter (Activity Monitor’s Memory Used)
Disk spaceDisk Space meter, any volume
Disk activityNone in 1.0
Network up/downNetwork meter, one per direction
BatteryBattery meter, with any face (several are made for it)
Bluetooth device batteriesBluetooth Accessory meter (keyboards, mice, trackpads; not AirPods)
TemperaturesThermal pressure only
Fan speedFan Speed meter (read only)
Power (watts)Power Draw meter
GPU, per-app lists, weather, clocksNone in 1.0
SwiftBar/xbar plugin that prints a numberScript meter

Set it up

  1. List the numbers you look at daily in the old app. Leave the rest.
  2. Add one Multimeter meter for each with Add Meter… (Command-N in the menu).
  3. Pick faces. Sparkline is closest to the line graphs in iStat Menus, Stats and MenuMeters; Label & Value to plain text.
  4. Set warning and critical levels and turn on notifications where you want them.
  5. Save the set as a theme so you can switch to a different set later (say, a quiet one for presentations).
  6. Turn off the matching items in the old app so nothing is measured twice. Keep it for anything Multimeter doesn’t have.

Check it worked

Your menu bar shows the same numbers as before, and the old app only shows what Multimeter doesn’t.
